David Shorey

David R. Shorey, CNP has over 30 years of nonprofit management and development experience in environmental, human rights, and quality of life issues. He is a community organizer proficient in policy, campaign, and program development, implementation, and oversight. As a focused leader who is team-oriented and adept at coalition building and the coalescing of divergent perspectives, David has been involved in affecting positive change in the communities he lives.
David has a BA in Government from California State University, Sacramento, a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of San Diego, a Certificate in Human Rights Consultancy from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights, and is credentialed as a Certified Nonprofit Professional by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Additionally, David is a certified Wilderness First Responder and teaches Wilderness First Aid, Stop the Bleed, and CPR classes
David lives in Julian with his two partners Virgil and Tommie and their cat Sunshine. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Julian Chamber of Commerce, the Architectural Review Board of the Julian Historic District, is a member of the LGBTQ Advisory Council for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, and chairs the Outreach and Education Committee of the San Diego Anti-Hate Coalition. In his off time, you can find him hiking the backcountry of San Diego County.
