IPS has been providing alcohol and drug prevention services in Lakeside since 2002. With assistance from countywide prevention providers and concerned community members, IPS provided technical assistance to pass a Social Host Ordinance (SHO) for all of San Diego County’s unincorporated area, including Lakeside, in 2003.  The county’s Social Host law imposes criminal charges on individuals who host underage drinking events on property they own, lease or otherwise control. The purpose of the ordinance is to deter underage drinking parties by decreasing social access to alcohol and marijuana by underage youth.

IPS facilitates the monthly Lakeside Community Collaborative which represents and promotes coordinated health, education, social and recreation services to enhance the health and safety of the Lakeside community. The Lakeside Community Collaborative partners with the Lakeside Union School District, the Lakeside Public Library and other groups and organizations to accomplish its mission.

IPS participates in the Mountain Empire Collaborative which serves the most eastern and southeastern populations of San Diego County and aims to connect the residents and communities there with essential services.
